WET in the City workshops provide educators with a comprehensive overview of the WET in the City Curriculum and Activity Guide, as well as practical hands-on training in its implementation. By participating in professional development workshops, educators also have the opportunity to become networked in the water education community within their city.
Utilizing the successful training models in place for all CEE co-sponsored programs, WET in the City facilitators conduct innovative workshops for urban educators in their cities.
Educators participate in workshop activities that reinforce how to:
Connect WET in the City activities to their teaching objectives, curriculum, and state
academic requirements. |
Relate WET in the City activities to vital water issues in their cities, including environmental health issues related to water. |
Select, prepare and present WET in the City activities to youth in a variety of settings. |
Integrate WET in the City activities into science, math, language arts, social studies, and fine arts instruction. |
Engage learners in natural resource education, decision making, and active stewardship. |
Involve students in real world water resource issues. |
Create service learning opportunities with local and state partners. |
Conduct assessments of student learning following each activity. |
